Job Description

Construction Engineer

Dewberry is currently seeking a Construction Engineer for our land development department in Orlando, FL. The successful candidate will manage the assigned elements of a construction project to assure quality of the contractor's compliance with the plans and contract documents, manage project inspection and serve as owner's representative. Candidates will be expected to have transportation to and from active construction sites and will work from the office when not visiting construction sites, company vehicles are available to check out. Assigned project elements will largely involve single family residential developments, multifamily, commercial and municipal developments as well as roadways and other transportation facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of construction cost estimates, review of contractor payment applications, and coordination with clients.
  • Coordinate and facilitate bid process for construction plans.
  • Review shop drawings for consistency with the plans and calculations.
  • Assist with pre-construction conferences, utility coordination meetings, and construction progress meetings.
  • Run project close out including plans review, coordination and submittal of the as-builts to the municipality for approval. These packages will be provided to the Senior Construction Manager for final review.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred with experience specializing in construction/civil engineering.
  • Experience in field with construction activities and cost estimating.
  • 5-8 years of experience with land development and transportation construction projects.
  • Knowledge of the use of AutoCAD or MicroStation, Excel and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to interpret private construction plans as well as public roadway plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Ability to understand, review and markup shop drawings and as-built surveys.
